Ok so I’ve been slowly preparing myself to switch up my eating habits. NO, I’m not turning into a strict vegan and although I consider myself a Catholic my cutback on pork and bottom feeders won’t be because of the bible; plus I LOVE lobster. I have been wanting to do a strict detox for quite some time now and for the next 14 days I’ll be undergoing a challenge that’ll help me cleanse in a way I think I can handle without crying for a slice of pizza. YES, I know there are all these crazy, expensive, all fluid detoxes that promise to renew everything but your hymen. Unfortunately, I don’t think my wallet nor I are ready for that yet. So, my good friend gave me a two week eating plan that will make you lose from 8-15 lbs. which is the least of my focus right now since I just want to cleanse and gradually fall into better, clean, eating. BTW I normally don’t go by these plans because they suck but I’ve witnessed her doing it at about 70% a couple years back and it totally worked. Even though I’m following most of the plan I have done some tweaks here and there that will allow me to complete it. It’s always helpful to find someone that’ll do it with you for support and hopefully you won’t give into temptation but find someone who won’t give in either!! Luckily my lover has agreed to do this with me so, my first day went a lot smoother than expected. It’s always hard to remember what you can and cannot eat but one time I overheard a very fit stranger at the gym telling someone something I’ve been trying to keep in mind: “Everything you think you shouldn’t have, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE”. I’ll try my very best to update you with recipes I come up with on the days we can eat more than just fruits and veggies 😉
Ok! So here’s the deal: (I’m listing all the foods I absolutely won’t be having for the next 14 days)
DAIRY (SOY ONLY)
MEATS (FISH ONLY)
COFFEE, BLACK TEA
CONDIMENTS (SEA SALT ONLY)
WHITE RICE (BROWN RICE ONLY)
CANDIES, CHOCOLATE, ICE CREAM
YELLOW BANANAS, GRAPES, MANGO
CANNED PRODUCTS (EXCEPT TUNA FISH)
WHITE SUGAR (BROWN OR HONEY ONLY)
PASTAS AND BREADS (ONLY WHOLE GRAIN OR BUCKWHEAT)
Sunday: We went food shopping and grabbed all the greens and legumes we enjoy eating which included: peppers, broccoli, different types of lettuces, kale, lentils, lima beans etc. (We walked through every isle I’m sure he wasn’t very happy) We then grabbed all the fruits we liked that didn’t include the above. We grabbed the regular Silk Soy Milk since we’ve actually both never had any before. We then proceeded in experimenting with different brands of sea salt, whole grain cereals, pastas, brown rice, and purchased what everyones loving about our country; lots of Quinoa. Too bad we’ll have to wait until Tuesday to eat the good stuff.
MUST BUY FOR SOUP: Small Cabbage, 2 green peppers, 1/4 bunch of cilantro, 2 small onions, 2 small tomatoes, 1 tsp of oregano, sea salt, 1/2 pack of parsley. Chop all ingredients and add to boiling water cook for 30 minutes.
MUST BUY FOR SASSY WATER: 1tsp Grated Ginger, 1tsp cayenne pepper, 1 med. cucumber thin sliced, 12 mint leaves. Mix with 8.5 cups of water overnight drink throughout the day.
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are the days that you can ONLY have FRUITS, SASSY WATER (or 10+ cups of reg water), SOUP, AND GREENS from the min you wake up until 6pm (Program about 9-10 hours of eating if you are a night-shift worker). UNLIMITED AMOUNTS OF THE ABOVE.
NOTE: You MUST have a min of 5 servings of fruits and 8 cups of water DAILY.
**Today was a tough day for my better half because he didn’t have much time to eat while working so he felt a little weak and had a headache by the end of the day. I on the other hand did well until my lovely friend texted me her lobster cravings at 8pm -__-**
In other news, I’m excited to share what we have for tomorrow!!! (we’re allowed Three meals with only fruits or greens in between meals)
